Generic vs. Unique

Interactive Website

An organization of a random set of 30 objects using a scale of how generic or unique they appear to be. To me, something generic is associated with how easily it's found in addition to how typical of a representation it is of other objects in the same category (e.g. a normal balloon versus a balloon that's custom designed). In contrast, something that is unique is harder to find.

Visually, I related this concept to an ocean because to me, it always seems that you find the most typical objects more easily, or in this case, closer to the shore, with more unique discoveries happening the farther or deeper you go. I added draggable components over some objects to emphasize that what is unique is often harder to reach.
